Should Student Athletes Get Paid?

Student athletes around America are working long hours practicing traveling and playing their sport.
They face a lot of stress while competing and earning money for their universities. Senior athlete Monique Griffins from Cal State Northridge explains what obstacles she has to overcome.

Students who are on scholarship only sometimes still have to pay for their school and board. Those not on scholarship have to pay for tuition, room , and board unless they are granted room and board.
The U.S. ninth Circuit decided that the NCAA players getting paid would be against the anti-trust law but that players would also be allowed to pay up to 5,000 per-year.
Nicholas Grande explains why he thinks student athletes should get paid.“ We are representing the school and making money for the school.”
Recently, college athletes getting pay has been a hot topic especially since a lot of coaches are being paid millions while student athletes are not given much.
But some athletes like Volleyball player Lauren Kanadi have a different point of view.
She said, “I don’t think student athletes should get paid because were already getting our school paid for, a lot of us are already getting our school paid for on scholarship so I already think it’s a great opportunity to come to school, we are already doing what we love I don’t think we need to get paid for it.
Progress is being made because some student athletes can get stipends but this issue still needs to be better resolved with University presidents.
